New School Board Member Academy Part 2 “Staying on Track” gives newly elected board members a second opportunity to gain insight into their job responsibilities and to network with their peers. Superintendent and board member communication, the Sunshine Law, Public Records, Florida Standards and Advocacy Tips are tentative agenda topics. Attendance at Part 1 is NOT a prerequisite.
- comparing /contrasting the powers and legal responsibilities of the school board and the superintendent
- school board/superintendent relations
- effective lobbying
- current issues facing school districts
- understanding Florida standards.
The registration fee(s) include all training materials and meeting room expenses in addition to breakfasts, coffee breaks, scheduled luncheons, and receptions.
The deadline for online registration is March 20, 2017. The member rate is $225, and the non-member rate is $450. There is no daily fee. Late registration is available upon arrival for an additional fee.
To cancel attendance, please notify Carolyn Sanders by email. For a full refund, cancellations must be made by 5pm on March 22, 2017.
