It was a busy week in the Florida Legislature as we are starting to see more bills moving through the process as
they are being put on the agenda to be heard in committees.

tracking are listed on the report in numerical order. A couple of bills to highlight:
- HB 1467 K-12 Education by Rep. Garrison was heard in the House Education Committee. This would
remove the statutory requirement for new school board members to receive a salary for serving as well as
implement extensive review process for all instructional materials that are available to students in school
media centers, libraries, classroom libraries, etc. It did pass out of committee 13-7. SB 1300 by Sen. Gruters
has an amendment that was filed late on Friday which would incorporate the language around instructional
materials and would reduce school board salaries but not eliminate them. - HB 851 School Concurrency by Rep. McClain was heard in the Local Administration and Veterans Affairs
Subcommittee. As filed, the bill would have changed school concurrency to district wide, however, during
committee, an amendment was adopted which removes the district wide language out of the bill. This will
allow our districts to continue to consider concurrency as they currently do. The bill, with the adopted
amendment, now moves to the House Education committee. The Senate companion, SB 706 by Sen. Perry
will be heard in its first committee this week.
