Strategies for Generational Leadership and Governance
Effective school board governance begins with understanding the people districts serve, support, employ, and represent. Students, families, employees, community partners, legislators, employers, and voters span multiple generations, each shaped by distinct experiences, values, communication styles, and expectations.
These differences influence how people respond to change, build trust, engage with their schools, and make decisions.
In this engaging session, nationally recognized generational expert Chuck Underwood will reveal the formative forces that shape each generation and provide a practical overview of the five generations most relevant to today’s governance teams.
Attendees will gain valuable insight into how generational values affect communication, collaboration, public engagement, and district decision-making. This session provides a powerful foundation for building stronger relationships, delivering more effective messages, and leading with greater understanding in an increasingly complex education environment.
