Andrea Messina

Andrea Messina began as Executive Director on July 1, 2015. A former English teacher, Charlotte County School Board Member, and FSBA Professional Development Coordinator, she brings a multi-faceted perspective to her leadership role. Ms. Messina is responsible for all organization operations and works with the Board of Directors and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and outreach. She oversees the development of sufficient resources to make certain the financial health of the organization is maintained. Andrea is a proud University of Central Florida Alumna.

Jordan Steffens, CPA, CPM

Jordan joined the FSBA team in January 2025 as the Director of Finance & Administration.  He is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in managing financial operations and administrative functions across various organizations. Jordan oversees budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation to support the organization’s mission and strategic goals. Previously, he held the role of Finance Director at the Leon County Clerk of Circuit Courts, where he managed comprehensive annual financial reports (CAFR) and streamlined financial workflows to enhance efficiency. As the Director of Finance at the Okaloosa County Clerk of Courts, Jordan led financial management and budgeting, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida State University and is certified as a Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Public Manager (CPM).

Demetrius Rice, Ph.D.

Demetrius joined the FSBA team in January 2025 as the Director of Strategic Operations, bringing extensive expertise in designing, developing, and implementing Career and Technical Education (CTE) and STEM programs within Leon and Madison County school districts. In his role, he collaborates closely with the CEO to oversee and enhance FSBA’s programs, services, strategic initiatives, and operations, while providing visionary leadership, fostering member engagement, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring clear communication with stakeholders. Demetrius holds a Doctorate degree in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies from Florida State University.

Danielle Thomas, Ed.D.

Danielle Thomas joined the FSBA team in September of 2021 as Director of Advocacy & Legislative Services. She brings a wealth of information in the areas of education policy and curriculum development from her time with Volusia County Schools and Florida Parent Teacher Association (FLPTA). She oversees legislative affairs and advocacy support. Danielle earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary/Special Education at Providence College. She earned a masters in Literacy Education from Walden University as well as a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. She also holds multiple teaching certifications in Florida. Danielle is currently completing a graduate certificate in non-profit management at UCF.

Joe McGehee, Esq.

Joe McGehee joined the FSBA team in May 2025 as Director of Advocacy & Legislative Services. He brings extensive legal expertise in education law and policy from both his academic background and his time in private practice representing school districts, teachers, and the Department of Education. He oversees legislative affairs and advocacy support. Joe earned his undergraduate degree in Greek, Latin, and Classical Civilizations from Florida State University in 2015, and later earned his doctorate in law from Florida State University’s College of Law in 2021. While in law school, he founded the Education Law and Policy Society, an organization dedicated to facilitating and training professionals seeking careers in fields related to education policy. Joe is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar and actively serves on the Florida Bar’s Education Law subcommittee. He has previously worked with the Florida Association of District School Superintendents while completing his legal education, and actively publishes on topics related to the field of education law in Florida.

Tina Pinkoson

Tina Pinkoson joined the FSBA staff in July of 2015 as the Coordinator of Professional Development, and in conjunction with the FSBA Strategic Plan 2020, her title was changed to Director of Leadership Services in 2016. Her experience as a teacher, Alachua County School Board member, and FSBA Facilitator gives her a broad perspective of the professional development needs of Florida’s School Board members. She oversees all professional development programs including required ethics training, Certified Board Member, Master Board, and Mentor programs as well as the New School Board Member and Chairmanship Academies. Tina is a graduate of the University of Florida.

Kim Beaty

Kim Beaty joined the FSBA staff in March of 2024 as the Executive Administrator. In addition to planning the Board of Directors Development Training and Meeting, Kim serves as a direct liaison to the CEO, Board of Directors, Executive Officers, COSSBA and the Nominating Committee. She started her educational advocacy career with the Florida Association of School Administrators as Director of Communications for 8 years and most recently as the Registrar for Lawton Chiles High School in Leon County. Her many years in association work as well as being an involved parent of public school students, SAC chair, and a school employee give her a unique and varied perspective to help serve our membership. Kim earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida State University with a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning.

Carolyn Sanders

Carolyn Sanders serves as Member Services Specialist for the association and assists departments as needed. Her key responsibilities include maintaining the member database, supporting members in their pursuit of professional development distinctions, assisting the accounting department and FEN, and planning the Day in the Legislature Advocacy Conference. Carolyn is the first voice you hear when you call FSBA.

Amie Williamson

Amie Williamson joined the FSBA team in September of 2021 as Communications and Conference Planning Manager.  With an extensive background in communications, marketing, and event management, Amie brings over a decade of expertise in creating impactful strategies that drive engagement and foster collaboration. Prior to joining FSBA, Amie served as the CEO of an independent marketing and design firm, where she partnered with diverse clients to deliver tailored communications, branding, and design solutions. In her role at FSBA, Amie oversees all aspects of communications, graphic design, social media management. She also manages the planning and execution of conferences and events, ensuring they inspire, inform, and bring people together. Amie is a proud alumna of Florida State University. Go Noles!

Ken Kenworthy

Ken Kenworthy joins the Trust after 35 years of service to one of its member districts, most recently in the role of Superintendent.  His involvement with FSBIT dates back to 2008 serving as the risk manager and Superintendent Trustee. Ken has a demonstrated knowledge of school and district leadership, which is valuable given the exclusive membership of the FSBIT organization. Coming from agricultural roots, his undergraduate work was achieved at Purdue University. His Ed Leadership degree was later earned at Florida Atlantic University.  He has a proven track record of enhancing financial growth and implementing strategic plans while focusing on what matters the most, the safety of those we serve.
