New School Board Member Academy – Part 2

March 14 – 15, 2023 at the 36th Annual FSBA Day in the Legislature in Tallahassee |  FOR NEW SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS ONLY

New School Board Member Academy Part 2 provides additional professional development and support for a newly elected school board member’s learning journey. The governance role will be reviewed, and board members will have the opportunity to discuss effective ways of dealing with the public’s expectations. Participants will hear from Dr. Kia Sweeney Scott, the Senior Director of School Choice Services in Orange County about their responsibilities concerning charter schools. Other topics to be covered are the future of education, their role in Tallahassee as well as the importance of civility in the board room.
