This event, held in Tallahassee, serves to underscore FSBA’s role as the voice of education in Florida, demonstrate FSBA’s advocacy on education issues currently being considered by the Florida Legislature, and promote best practices in advocacy.

Day in the Legislature provides members an opportunity to hear from members of the Florida Legislature, learn the education topics being considered within the legislative process, and meet with educational leaders.

In addition, information will be shared regarding filed bills and their potential impact on students and districts as well as an update on the proposed budget and process.

Board members can earn points in the Certified Board Member (CBM) Program for attending this training.

Please Read Before Selecting Your Travel Dates: The Day in the Legislature and the Board of Directors meeting are being held in conjunction with the New School Board Member Academy, Part 2. Please carefully read the dates and times below before booking your room.

  • New School Board Member Academy, Part 2: March 18 -19 Program begins March 18 at 1:00 PM. (Located at TSC Center for Innovation)
  • Board of Directors Meeting: March 19 Meeting begins at 10:00 AM. (Located at Sittig Hall)
  • Day in the Legislature: March 19 – 20 Program begins March 19 at 1:00 PM. Registration opens at noon. LUNCH IS NOT INCLUDED. (WEDNESDAY, 3/19, located at TSC Center for Innovation. THURSDAY, 3/20, located at Sittig Hall.)

We will conclude the last session on Thurs, March 20 at 10:00 AM, but members are expected to schedule meetings with their legislators for the remainder of the day.
