The suggestions and resources below are intended to assist you in your meetings with legislators and to make the most of your time in Tallahassee. Additional suggestions and resources will be added as they become available, so please check back often.
- Prepare a “Fast Facts” sheet about your district that includes information on your district’s enrollment, employees, basic operating budget, school grades, and other pertinent information. You may wish to use our “2018-2019 Education Fast Facts” as a template and may wish to compare your district information to the statewide information on our sheet.
- Review the FSBA 2019 Legislative Platform and be prepared to discuss your district’s actions and concerns regarding student safety, mental health services, state and local funding, school personnel, and workforce education. You may find it useful to have answers to this Questionnaire.
- In planning your meetings with your legislators, consider collaborating with any other school districts that your legislators represent. You may find our “School Board and Legislative Delegation” chart useful in identifying the other school districts and school board members represented by your legislators.
