There is no registration fee for this meeting but, to ensure sufficient meeting space and to get a headcount for lunch, we ask that all attendees register for the meeting. To register, please click HERE
10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. — Members of the FSBA Legislative Committee, district lobbyists, and any other interested parties in attendance will review and debate the PROPOSED Legislative Platform and Federal Platform, consider any new or late-filed proposals, and craft any desired amendments.
12:30 – 1:30 p.m. — Lunch provided by FSBA (if needed, this can be a working lunch)
1:30 – 4:00 p.m. — Members of the FSBA Legislative Committee will vote on any recommended additions or amendments to the PROPOSED Platform, identify the key priorities to be included in the platforms, and adopt the Final FSBA 2018 Legislative Platform and Federal Platforms. Please note that, in accordance with FSBA Policy 2025(4)(b), approval of any amendments to, and the final adoption of, the FSBA 2017 Legislative Platform and Federal Platform requires a 2/3 vote of the Legislative Committee members present, allowing one vote per school district.
To make hotel reservations, We are hopeful that Legislative Committee members can travel to and from Gainesville on the same day. However, for any school board members that may need hotel accommodations before and/or after the meeting, we have blocked rooms at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Gainesville located at 101 SE First Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601 (phone 352-240-9300). The hotel is within walking distance to the Alachua County Public Schools Administration Center. The room rate is $145 per night and includes breakfast and Wi-Fi.
