10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. — Members of the FSBA Legislative Committee, district lobbyists, and any other interested parties in attendance will review and debate the PROPOSED Legislative Platform and Federal Platform and craft any desired amendments.
12:30 – 1:30 p.m. — Lunch provided by FSBA (if needed, this can be a working lunch)
1:30 – 4:00 p.m. — Members of the FSBA Legislative Committee will vote on any recommended additions and/or amendments to the PROPOSED Platform, identify the key priorities to be included in the platforms, and adopt the Final FSBA 2020 Legislative Platform and Federal Platforms. Please note that, in accordance with FSBA Policy 2025, the final adoption of the FSBA 2020 Legislative Platform and Federal Platform requires a 2/3 vote of the Legislative Committee members present, allowing one vote per school district.
We are hopeful that Legislative Committee members can travel to and from Kissimmee on the same day. However, for any school board members that may need hotel accommodations before and/or after the meeting, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista South is the most convenient (it’s about 11 miles from the Osceola Technical Center but allow additional time due to traffic). The hotel is located at 4955 Kyngs Heath Road, Kissimmee, Florida 34746. The typical room rate is about $155- $165 per night and includes breakfast and a complementary evening reception. There is a $10 charge per day for parking. Please note that we have not reserved a block of rooms, so we recommend that you make your reservations as soon as possible.
To make reservations by phone, please call (407) 597-4000. To book online, please click HERE.
If you need assistance with registration or hotel reservations, please contact Carolyn Sanders at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have questions about the Legislative Committee meeting or the platform adoptions process, please contact Ruth Melton at email@example.com.
