Monday highlights:
SB 1216 relating to school board term limits (Gruters) passed favorably through its first committee. The bill was amended from 12 years to 8 and now matches the House version (HB 157, Sabatini). The vote was 4-3 party line.
SB 1302 Sovereign Immunity (Flores) passed its second committee with opposition from many local government stakeholders. The committee was vocal about seeing data to show potential harm to insurance premiums for local governments as the caps rise.
SB 7040 relating to school safety, passed Infrastructure and Security with an amendment to apply the portion of the bill relating to diversion programs (an MSD Commission recommendation) to charters and private schools too. The amendment was offered by Senator Lee.
