Budget Conference
The Senate finally made an offer in response to the House at 6:30pm Sunday and no counter was made last evening. It is clear that several items are still in flux as the Senate moved to $600M for teacher salary even after the House Offer #1 had moved to the Senate’s original position of $500M. The Senate Offer #1 also changed their BSA increase to $18 (down from $40). There is still no evidence of assistance for the FRS increase. The subcommittee will need to notice a meeting prior to 1pm today or items bump up to the Appropriations chairs.
Today is Day 55. The House can no longer take up bills on 2nd Reading for consideration.
- The Senate will head to floor session at 10am. School safety, impact fees, civics education, human trafficking education, and Holocaust education are all up for consideration.
- The House will be in Session at 10:30. On the docket: scholarships, panic alarms, HB 7103 (that has been amended to become an education “train” bill) and more.
