In the last Video Update for this Legislative Session, Dr. Wayne Blanton discusses the highlights of the education budget and the status of key bills that have passed, failed, or are still in play. Dr. Blanton noted that SB 1642relating to the transition to new state standards and assessments and SB 864 relating to adoption of instructional materials have both passed the legislature. Meanwhile, HB 753 that would authorize arming school personnel andSB 1114that would revise the Florida Retirement System appear highly unlikely to pass during this session. Finally, HB 7167 and SB 1512 relating to the Tax Credit and ESE Scholarship Programs and SB 850which has become a bill “train” that includes the substance of several other bills, are all still in play.
