ov. Rick Scott said today that Florida schools spend too much time on testing and that the Florida Legislature should fix that this year.
Scott said a testing investigation he asked the Florida Department of Education to conduct should provide a “template” for changes.
The governor, speaking at a Tallahassee education conference hosted by former Gov. Jeb Bush, Scott offered no specifics but made it clear he wanted to see testing’s prominence in public schools reduced.

“We have too much testing,” he said. “We need to spend more time on learning. We need this year to work with the legislature to get something done.”
