Florida testing and the use of the results will be front and center Thursday afternoon as the Senate Education Committee holds a 90-minute hearing on the aftermath of HB 7069, the bill adopted last spring to cut back on some (but not all) of the excesses that generated so much criticism over several months.
Much of the time will go into reviewing the test validity study the committee inserted into the bill, including some pointed questions for how commissioner Pam Stewart arrived at her conclusions that the Florida Standards Assessments were valid and should be used for various consequences.
Beyond that, chairman John Legg told the Gradebook he expected to look at other ways the Legislature might need to deal with the bill’s requirements and possible changes.
