Miami Republican Erik Fresen said he wants to raise the bar for Florida teachers by offering a $10,000 scholarship for those he believes are the brightest and best of the bunch.
However, the scholarship he created by carving out $44 million in this year’s budget has brought on three challenges from Sarasota school professionals who believe they were unfairly excluded from applying for the one-time sum.
The two teachers and occupational therapist are being represented by Tallahassee Attorney Ron Meyer, who said the program required better execution.
