This is the first in a series of two Survival Skills trainings for newly elected school board members, who are strongly encouraged to attend BOTH sessions. Participants will receive six (6) points in the CBM Program for completing this 6-hour training session. Points will tentatively be awarded as follows:
- 4 points LAW (School Law), 1 point LEG (State/Federal Legislative and Administrative Processes) AND 1 point COM (Communication/Public Relations).

Newly redesigned, this is part one of a two-year series of training developed for all board chairs and vice chairs.
This session includes the scope of the chair’s roles, setting chair leadership goals, meeting management, and an in-depth parliamentary procedures component presented by professional parliamentarian and back-by-popular-demand attorney Jim Slaughter. Participants will receive six (6) points in the CBM Program for completing this 6-hour training session. Points will tentatively be awarded as follows:
- 2 points LAW (School Law)
2 points LEG (State/Federal Legislative and Administrative Processes) AND
2 points COM (Communication/Public Relations).
