This message has been sent on behalf of FSBA President Tim Weisheyer and the FSBA Executive Officers
FSBA has been closely monitoring developments related to the outbreak of COVID-19, which was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11th and declared a National Emergency by President Donald Trump on March 13.
The situation we find ourselves in as citizens and leaders of Florida’s public school districts is unprecedented and has required flexibility we did not even know we could demonstrate.
In the interest of the safety and well-being of members, sponsors, and other conference participants, and due to the uncertainty of how long we will need to observe social distancing guidelines, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the FSBA/FADSS Annual Summer Conference that was scheduled for June 10-12 in Tampa.
We feel this is our best course of action to prioritize the safety of everyone, provide you with a certainty regarding your schedule and other commitments, and ensure the fidelity of the program and content offerings.
This was a difficult decision for the Executive Committee to make, knowing how important the opportunity to physically gather, share ideas, network, and learn is to us all. However, we will continue to provide opportunities to do these things throughout the coming months using our distance platforms and look forward to the day when we can gather together again.
FSBA is here for you. Please reach out to us directly if we can support you or your district during these challenging times.
As always, stay calm, be smart, and be safe.
