Yesterday, following an original motion to temporarily postpone the school board term limits bill in the Senate, the bill was brought back up (5 hours later) and passed by one vote (9-8). The vote was on party line plus a NO vote from Senator Flores (R) from Miami. The next stop for the bill will be the Senate Floor, and the bill must pass by 3/5 vote to be included on November’s ballot.
Today, both chambers will spend time in Session and the Senate Appropriations Committee will take up several bills including SB 62 Education by Stargel. Late into the evening and this morning, amendments have been filed to amend SB 62. Access the Appropriations meeting packet HERE.
